Today was a little rough for Kiya.  She is still retaining a large amount of fluid and has received large doses of diuretics to help reduce the swelling in her body.  Her heart is enlarged from the excess fluid and she has received two more transfusions in the last few days.  She is still covered and under very careful watch, with a nurse keeping vigil at all times.

Several members of the family have decided to hold a fast in her honor on Sunday, and we would love to encourage anyone else who is able to do the same.  The Banzhaf family really appreciates all your prayers and love on their behalf!

Lex and Mason were able to go to the hospital for the first time today!  They were so happy to see their mom again!

Kristen will be released from the hospital tomorrow evening and then she and Matt will alternate taking care of the boys and spending time at the hospital.  If you are interested in helping out, I will coordinate through Kristen and Matt as far as their needs are concerned.  Please feel free to call (801-755-5230) or email me anytime.

We love you Matt and Kris!  You two are amazing and Kiya is a lucky girl to have such great parents!

  4. Such an emotional fast for me today. Everytime I was hungry I thought of your sweet baby and her tiny body. We are truly blesses with these bodies. We are all praying often that Kiya will be strong. Hugs to you both Matt and Kristin, and to you grandmas and grandpas. Hang in there.

  5. It's so great to see that special smile, Kristen and see your cute boys so happy to see you. Kiya is beautiful! Her dark hair reminds me of when you were born with tons of dark hair that grew out blonde. We are praying for all of you and hope you feel the strength and comfort that comes from so many people doing the same. Here's a hug.

  6. We are praying for you guys. We named our little girl Kaya (I think said the same way as your Kiya). I feel connected to your daughter with her being just weeks younger than ours. I thought you'd like to know that their shared name means "ability to do anything" in Filipino. She is here for a purpose and we'll pray that she can fulfill her mission on this earth. We love you guys! Hang in there :) Love, Tiffany (Ivins)and Mitch Spence and Kiddos

  8. What great news yesterday to hear about Kiya's improvements! We are grateful we can pray for her and for you, Matt and Kristen and Kiya's grandparents. We are so happy for you to have a new little daughter and know she has come to a wonderful family that loves her so much already. We will continue to pray for her and for more miracles for her to improve some each day. We love you all. Kay and Jim
