New Things

A lot has happened over the past month. Kiya officially has her first tooth! It is a cute little nub in the bottom of her mouth and she is not quite sure what to do with it. The feeding therapist came today and said that we get to start having Kiya work on "munching." I get to give her a biter biscuit for the first time. Who knew that could make someone so dang excited. I am going to prance down the baby food isle, stick my chin in the air, and buy her the same food all the other babies are eating. I am anxious to see how she does with it, but I have been unable to make it to the store with Matt's schedule and my strict house arrest.
Kiya has also started prop sitting this month which is huge! The therapists tell me if she can sit by age 2 she should be able to walk by age 4. I think she will be independently sitting long before she is 2. She has also learned how to clap which is about the cutest thing I have ever seen. She is really proud of herself and claps whenever she thinks she has done something good. From a developmental standpoint it is great because she is using both sides equally and she understands mimicking. She has also started to hold light objects in both hands and tap them together. Previously she would drop one toy if you offered her another. Needless to say I have been pretty excited about all of the progress the last while and her daddy thinks this will be her year.
Somehow despite my staying in the house for the last 4 weeks, we all still got a cold. I think Mason's preschool classmates are to blame. I have been suctioning Kiya all day to remove excess mucous. She has been throwing up again because she is not as hungry when she is sick, but you still feed the same amount of food with the tube. We are learning to adjust to everything that comes with having your child on a feeding tube.

Family

Last weekend Grandpa and Grandma Banzhaf came to visit. As per lex's request we had many adventures including going to Cornbelly's, Bridal Falls and ate out. The kids had a great time!

Trick Or Treat

I won $50 dollars for this pumkin at Matts work carving competition. He told me to spend it on something fun so I used it for the copay for Kiya's neurosurgery appointment today. Busy living the dream

Matt and I had to create some very last minute costumes. Matt went as Lex's tornado chasing sidekick and I was the lady who picked Kiya the strawberry from the patch. Mason maintained his roll as a british train
